Let’s go!

25 02 2014

Some of you may have noticed that this blog had been innactive. I’ve been working on a few other things and had to let this slip so I could focus. Well, I think it’s about time to get this blog going again.
In the next few days new content should start showing up. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you like what I do.

14 10 2013

It’s 0300 and I’m wide awake. That’s not such a bad thing. I have two hours before my class starts (assessments today), so it’s a good time to work on creating workouts etc.
Time to get up and get things done.

Small Changes (Facebook Post)

6 06 2012

If you are unsure of your commitment to getting in shape, but still want to have a go at it, one small change is a great way to start. Instead of going from eating deep fried Crossed out sodasticks of butter to a full on Paleo diet overnight, try only cutting out sweet tea, or soda. Small adjustments like these will be easier to stick to and, believe it or not, will make a difference. Give it a try for a week, and when it doesn’t kill you, then you can take one more small step and before you know it you will be healthier and closer to your goals.

I was in my local Dollar General store the other day and came across a product called Protein to Go. It comes in a single serving “shot” similar in size to a 5 hour energy. The store didn’t have all four flavors only Milk Chocolate Shake and Berry Boost. Berry Boost is protein and caffeine. Each shot was priced at $3.00. protein to goBeing a protein user/advocate myself, I had to try it, so I bought 3 of each one. Read the rest of this entry »

No Motivation Day

23 03 2012

Today is a “can’t find it day”. No matter what I do, I can’t seem to find the motivation to go to the gym and get my workout in. When I get like this, there are a few things I can do that always seem to help out. I’m not going to talk about health benefits etc. as there are thousands of articles about that. I’m talking about a one day funk where you just can’t seem to get going and need something to kick you in the butt. Here they are in no particular order.woman sleeping on bag Read the rest of this entry »

Today’s workout; Back and Bi’s

20 03 2012

Other than the initial warm up and abs, all sets are done with a weight that will keep the number of reps between 4-8. This entire workout takes just under 2 hours and that includes the 42 minute cardio session. And, of course, make sure your Dr. says you’re fit enough to do this workout. What is fitness?

20 03 2012

When I ask, “What is fitness?” I’m not looking for a dictionary definition. I’m actually asking what does “fitness” do? What does it look like? What does it feel like?  Web MD says fitness is “being able to perform physical activity… having the energy and strength to feel as good as possible”. I find that to be a very simple and straight forward statement. However, I also find it very vague. The ability to perform physical activity can mean just about anything. After all, getting up off of the couch and walking to the refrigerator is physical activity. Now I understand that for some people this would medically qualify as strenuous exercise, but I am not writing this for them as they need a level of care that I am not qualified to provide.
